Eucalyptus Color

Current color obsession: this Eucalyptus color range of
naturally dyed fibers grown in Napa Valley • The TWIRL yarns
are from the ranch of Mary Pettis-Sarley

Eucalyptus leaves and bark yield a wide range of colors from deep rusty browns to a wonderful range of greys to rich dark reds, vibrant oranges and even the elusive green. An invasive species here in California, it's easy to collect windfall leaves and bark in our urban landscape - often found in parking lots. Eucalyptus for the TWIRL yarn was gathered on the Napa Valley ranch where the fibers were grown. I admire this close knit sense of place embodied in Mary's yarns.

I am excited to share with you the launched of our new Fibershed website this morning, I can hardly contain myself!

As many of you know I have been involved in a collaboration between farmers, scientists and artisans in our community. After of a year of research, we've been busy forming a non-profit organization to supports the collaboration of small scale farmers with local artisans to facilitate the growth and development of bioregional textile supply chain that function hand-in-hand with principles of sustainability, local economies and regional agriculture. You can read more on-line . . .

Khadi Duvet Cover

New organic bedding designed for Coyuchi is now available.
Isn't the texture on the Khadi Duvet Cover lovely?!? I couldn't be happier with the results. My hope with theses designs is to challenge the perceived conception of what "organic" looks like. What do you think?
